Tullo Wind Farm extension revised after community feedback
Eneco has revised its plans to extend the current Tullo Wind Farm site based on feedback from the local community. The company will be presenting the revised plans at two public exhibitions at The Dickson Memorial Hall in Laurencekirk on 5th and 6th September
At a public exhibition in June, Eneco presented proposals to extend the current site, which comprises of seven turbines and generates enough electricity to meet the needs of 9,000 homes, by adding seven additional turbines. However, the revised plans show that the number of additional turbines proposed for the extension has now been reduced to four.
The new plans have significantly reduced the visual impact of the proposed extension from Laurencekirk, with feedback from the local community at the June public exhibition largely focusing on this aspect of the extension scheme.
The revised plans also follow findings from the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which included environment surveys on the extension site, and consultation with wider stakeholders such as Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and Historic Scotland.
In addition to presenting these plans, the public exhibitions in September will provide Eneco with a chance to listen to the views of local residents on the revised extension plans and current scheme. The exhibitions will also outline the potential opportunities in the area as a result of the Tullo Wind Farm extension, such as an increased community fund of £2,500 per MW for each new turbine, habitat improvement on land near the site and enhanced public access around the site.
Daniel Badcock, Development Manager for Tullo Wind Farm, says “The improved plans shows that we have taken into account all of the views and opinions of local residents and acted upon them in developing this new proposal. The revised plans will reduce the visual impact of the new turbines from Laurencekirk and we believe they are the most suitably located on the extension site. Additionally, many local residents have already commented on Tullo being an example of a good wind farm and we look forward to continuing the work that we have already started in the current scheme and local area.
“Eneco is committed to communicating with, and responding to, the interests of the local community throughout the development of the proposed Tullo wind farm extension. We therefore welcome the attendance of the local community at the upcoming public exhibitions to provide further feedback on our improved plans ahead of us submitting the wind farm planning application in October.”
The public exhibitions will take place at the following times at The Dickson Memorial Hall on Station Road in Laurencekirk:
Monday 5th September: 2.30pm to 8.30pm
Tuesday 6th September: 12.30pm to 6.30pm
